The MRRIN sites serve hundreds of laboratories nationally and internationally using a fee-for-service model. In this model, the specific services offered by each NCMRR site are offered at highly subsidized rates. For example, specific assays may be offered at cost of reagents only, with technician time, machine time, and statistical time offered at little or no cost. The services offered vary depending on the NCMRR site. In effect, the NCMRR functions as a national core facility to facilitate the research of medical rehabilitation researchers.
